Coasting : Issue 13 July 2010
20 central coast • new south wales COASTING FEATURE COASTING HOME Opportunity of 1. Shutters – are they worth the money? Yes, the reputation is deserved. Shutters can add value to your home in two ways. They add curb appeal as they can be seen from the street and instantly say “style” before anyone has entered your home. Real estate agents often talk about the “wow factor “when buyers walk into a home and shutters in the main living area certainly delivers it. Authentic plantation shutters are about three times more expensive than regular timber-style venetian blinds, so the savvy home decorator often opts for a combination of both. Shutters work well for the main living areas and rooms exposed to the street view, while the thicker horizontal blades of the shutter blinds can work well in bedrooms and other rooms of the house which aren’t used so much. • Aluminium hard wearing Shutters • Choice of over 200 Dulux colours • Ideal to add to an existing deck or pergola • Adds stylish value to your home with minimum effort • Lockable for security PLUS Create privacy from neighbours without blocking light & air • Maximise the versatility of your outside space Use your pergola all year round with a PREMIER SHADE // SHUTTER ROOM Call the local experts 4324 8800 Or visit our factory/showroom at 1/305 Manns Road, West Gosford www.premiershades.com.au Presentth i sadfor$100OFFyourpurchase ( min.purchaseo f $1000applies ) c8739430-1Jul Want to add value to your windows? Sharon Tieman of Premier Shades, Awnings, Blinds, at West Gosford, shows you how. 2. Good blinds make great neighbours A sunscreen or block-out outside roller blind can give surprisingly good privacy without the expense and bulk of tall fences. Screening in an outside entertaining area that looks over public areas or messy neighbours can add value to your home, and block out an unsightly view whilst increasing the versatility of an outside living area. Modern colours and fabrics mean you can give an instant contemporary look, regardless of the date or style of your home. 3. Mix and match designs but stay with the same theme These days, many of the same colours and textures are available in Roman blinds, Holland blinds, vertical blinds, curtains and panel blinds. You can choose the blind to suit the function of the door or window, while still keeping with the colour and texture theme of your home. If you have a family room with lots of sliding doors, perhaps vertical blinds or the stylish panel blinds might suit the situation. A classic block-out Holland blind in the bedrooms can create the ideal environment for a good night’s sleep. THEME: A sample of the blinds on show at the Premier Shades, Awnings, Blinds showroom at West Gosford. Picture by Aaron Brown. PRIVACY: Louvred screening can block an unsightly view, and come in modern colours and fabrics which create a contemporary look. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Shutters add instant style and a ‘wow factor’, even when seen from the street.
