27 www.coastingtoday.com.au SCANNING THE NEW menu at Saltwater Grill, inside Ettalong Beach Club, can take a while: there are just so many tempting options to choose from. Seafood choices are a highlight, as you might expect, considering the venue's name and setting overlooking Ettalong Beach. Starters include succulent Clyde River oysters, served natural, kilpatrick or mornay (from $14.90 for a half-dozen), and salt and pepper squid ($11.90) served with sea salt and schezuan pepper on herb salad with chilli plum sauce. Among the eye-catching main meals are the veal karumba ($22.90), featuring veal medallions sautéed and finished with champagne and glazed king prawns. Rauri's chicken breast ($18.90) is popular. It's a poeller roasted chicken breast with smoked Tasmanian salmon and avocado finished with sauvignon blanc sauce. The grilled barramundi ($19.50) fresh Atlantic salmon ($19.75) and half Florida lobster mornay ($22.90) are just a sample of the seafood delights on offer. Steak lovers aren't forgotten at Saltwater Grill. The menu includes a choice of succulent grain-fed steaks from the Nolan's Private Selection company, including 300g export rib eye ($26.50), 350g T-bone ($23.50) and 250g sirloin ($23.50). Ettalong Beach Club's catering operations manager Abigail Jones said steak lovers also had the chance to get creative. "Diners can make their own 'surf and turf' by adding barbecued wild-caught large prawns to any steak for just $5.90," Abigail said. The menu also features a selection of pizza, pasta and schnitzel dishes, as well as children's meals ($6.90). Desserts available from Riley's coffee shop include an array of home-made cakes, slices and cookies. Saltwater Grill features some hot $10 specials every week. Sunday is roast night, Monday is pizza and pasta night, Tuesday is international schnitzel night, and Wednesday is 10 for $10 night. That's when diners can choose any one of the chef's selection of 10 dishes for just $10. Diners can take a seat in the lush 250- seat dining room, or dine in the comfort of the heated al fresco area overlooking Ettalong Beach. "Saltwater Grill is all about simple food done very well," Abigail said. "We use quality ingredients and the service is always very friendly. It's true when we say that the only thing we overlook is the beach," she said. Phone 4343 0111. OUTSTANDING: Slow roasted lamb rump on potato rosti with buttered spinach and red current jus.
