Pictures by Aaron Brown. Regrets? He's had a few Mark Moldre's musical journey began when he and some mates from Berkeley Vale Community High School formed the alternative- indie band Hitchcock's Regret. The band released three albums internationally. While there are similarities between the music of Hitchcock's Regret and Moldre's debut solo work, there is one significant difference. "I don't have to argue points all the way through," Moldre said. Not that there's anything wrong with that. "Saying that someone's song is bad, or that something in their song doesn't work... it's like insulting their mother. It's personal. And it never goes down well. "But I think that process is a good thing because it brings out the best in the song." Moldre said for that reason, recording an album as a solo artist was more difficult than recording as a band. "It is harder because you've got to edit yourself. Eventually the record comes out with your name on it." The Waiting Room • Mark Moldre's debut solo album, The Waiting Room, will be launched in a gig at Lizotte's at Kincumber, on Sunday, May 23. Also on the bill are Mike McCarthy and Talltails. • The Waiting Room was produced by Tim Powles (drummer for The Church) and Michael Carpenter. Carpenter also engineered the record. It is released on Yellow Moon Records • Go to www.markmoldre.com and www.myspace.com/markmoldresolo.
