27 www.coastingtoday.com.au COASTING FEATURE WITH A BEER garden and dining area overlooking the sparkling waters of the Woy Woy waterfront, it's no surprise to learn that the Bay View Hotel Motel Brasserie is known for its stunning seafood. The beer battered fish ($15.50), tempura whiting fillets ($10.50) and the Bay View fisherman's plate ($18) featuring a selection of seafood, salad and fruit are just a few of the seafood dishes that locals proudly boast about. The Bay View is also a haven for oyster lovers. Choose from oysters natural, mornay, Kilpatrick, Bay View or mixed, starting at $11.90 for a half-dozen, and $22 for a dozen. Bay View owners Kerry and Gary Narvo said that sourcing fresh local seafood was a key to their success. "Our salt and pepper calamari (available in entrée and main meal servings) is one of our most popular dishes. We have customers who travel up from Sydney for that," Kerry said. The Bay View's wide selection of steak, chicken and salad dishes is also impressive. "The steaks from our grill are as good as you'll experience anywhere," Kerry said. Try the grain-fed rump, T-bone or scotch fillet (from $21.50), or the chicken breast fillet ($17.50) and surf and turf ($24.90). All mains are generous servings available with either chips and salad or vegetables. The Bay View is also big on burgers. The home-made beef burger features tender scotch fillet and melted cheese ($10.20), while the chicken burger (also $10.20) features chicken tenderloin strips, guacamole and sour cream. Kerry enjoys a hands-on role at the Bay View, and said her staff take real pride in their work. "Our chefs Andrew Stott and Arthur Hassett have created a wonderfully large and diverse menu, and the waiting staff are so friendly and dedicated. They are always being complimented on their work," Kerry said. Since acquiring the Bay View eight years ago, Kerry and Gary have embarked on a renovation program at the historic hotel which was built in 1927. "We've restored the dining room, and the beautiful old fireplace there makes for a lovely atmosphere," Kerry said. Other diners can't resist a table outside, overlooking the water. "It's a real family hotel now," Kerry said, and that's reflected in the menu, too. The Bay View offers a range of children's meals for just $7. And there's a senior's menu too, offering a selection of smaller portions of main meal dishes for just $9. Phone 4341 2088.
