CLUB 50 DRAW NIGHTS WILL BE HELD THE LAST TUESDAYOF EACH MONTH FEBRUARY TO NOVEMBER LTPS/10/00346 WHEN Loren Kate returns to the Central Coast to play a gig at Lizotte's at Kincumber next month, it will mark an emotional homecoming for the well-travelled indie folk singer. A former resident of Narara and Wamberal, Kate now lives with her partner Xavier in the hills of Adelaide, and will come to the Coast via a series of gigs in Western Australia. Kate told Coasting that the travel bug was given a helping hand by a man who gave her a bus after they met at her gig at The Break Bar, at Terrigal, several years ago. "My car had just broken down and I was telling this man about it when he said that he had an old bus that he'd give me," Kate said. True to his word, the punter delivered on his promise. Kate said she then spent a month working from dusk until dawn to make the bus roadworthy. She then jumped behind the wheel and set off on a solo around-Australia tour which changed her life. "It was incredible. I met so many people, and met so many musicians," she said. Among them was Gilbert Whyte, another former Central Coast folk singer, whom she met in WA. Whyte will play support for Kate's show at Lizotte's on April 1. But there is another reason that the Lizotte's gig will be special. "I'm actually going to be a mum for the first time in May, so this will be my last gig on the Central Coast for a while," she said. Kate said punters could expect a stripped- back show in which she'd invite some friends on stage to lend some harmonies and instrumentation. Songs from her debut album Brand New Shoes will be showcased, along with new songs inspired by impending motherhood.
