THERE was a nice little aside that Felicity Urquhart shared with me during the interview for our cover story this month. It was a tip that she’d been given by the great Australian entertainer Bobby Limb. “ Bobby once told me that whatever it is that you get offered to do in your life and career, you should just say yes to it. Then you go off and learn how to do it,” she said. “ So, if you get offered a job and they ask if you can tap dance, you smile and say ‘sure!’ then you race home and learn like crazy.” Urquhart has used the advice as the key to building her multifaceted career as a singer and songwriter, a presenter on Channel Seven’s Sydney Weekender, and a fill-in host of Saturday Night Country on ABC Radio. “ It ’s fleeting,” Urquhart said of success in the music industry. “I’m trying to invest in my career for down the track, and it’s nice to have other options open.” This ‘Just do it’ approach also applies to Central Coast adventurer Shane Pophfer who has embarked on a mission to scale the world’s seven highest summits. Pophfer’s message is simple: Life is short, so live large. This month’s edition is also likely to spark plenty of debate as we list the 10 most memorable moments at Central Coast Stadium in the past 10 years, and list one local movie buff’s favourites and flops. And don’t miss the newest addition to our growing magazine, the popular Blockbuster crossword which debuts on page 31.
