It's part of the reason why he feels that the time is right to take on the US market. He's now older -- but not old -- and wiser. "As a young person I could never have made the connections that I've made now," he says. "When I was younger I just wasn't ready. I had to find the truth." His maturity as a songwriter and performer now also make him a far more formidable musical force. His debut album, Bed of Light, released in 2008 on Foghorn Records, is proof of that. America apparently agrees. The first song from that album, Black and Blue, is now being played on 30 radio stations throughout Los Angeles, North Carolina and New York. And with the new single, California, also finding an international audience, Mark Cashin and the Lil Hussy's sense an opportunity. If the band's live performances are to seal the deal, Cashin is leaving nothing to chance. He's meticulous when it comes to rehearsal. "Yeah, we work hard together, and there's a great chemistry in the band which is not ego driven," Cashin said. "But if there are minor glitches that I pick up on in rehearsal then I'll shut things down and make sure that we get it right. I'm very firm about that." The American tour will happen next year, but was originally scheduled for August this year. It was postponed because of delays with the group's working visas. The band had been booked to play more than 10 shows, including a festival in California with Kiss and Aerosmith, and gigs at The Cat Club and The House of Blues, both on Sunset Boulevard. Cashin was disappointed to postpone the tour -- particularly because it was due to an administrative problem. But it was not the end of the world. After all, California now has more time to open more doors before the band's arrival on the Sunset Strip next year. Time to cash in The debut album, Bed of Light (Foghorn Records), released 2008.
