6 central coast new south wales By DAVID STEWART Making it with the MAFIA Alternative country artist Lianna Rose has moved to Hillbilly Heaven and magic has started to happen. SINCE she sold her house to fund her debut album, and then moved to the Central Coast, Lianna Rose has kept a respectful distance from the Central Coast country music 'mafia'. She feels that she has to earn her stripes, after all, before she can rub shoulders with the likes of country music stars Adam Harvey, Gina Jeffreys, Beccy Cole and Kasey Chambers in the place they call Hillbilly Heaven. And if Lianna is to get an invitation to join the friendly mafia's barbecue circuit, she can thank Kasey's dad for making the connection. "I moved to the Central Coast because of Bill Chambers," Lianna said. "He rang me years ago and suggested that we do some co-writing together. He had a project that he was working on and he really liked my style of writing so I came up to the Central Coast a few times to work with him. "It was then that I started to think: 'I should move here. It's beautiful and there's work here'. So the move was inevitable. It just had to happen." Lianna settled at Narara where she lives with partner Dai Pritchard, a fellow muso who plays guitar with Rose Tattoo. They plan to marry in February. "I haven't had a chance to really get to know anyone here really well yet," she offers, sheepishly. The pair's touring and family commitments (together they have three girls from their previous relationships) means that they have had little time to socialise recently. And with Lianna's star rising fast, that situation doesn't look like changing any time soon. COASTING MUSIC AT HOME: Lianna Rose at Terrigal Beach. Picture by Aaron Brown.
