Earning her stripes Despite all of the plaudits that have come with her win, Julie has maintained perspective on her achievement and skills. "I'm not a chef, I'm a cook," she said, matter-of-factly. "A chef is a qualification and you have to earn that. MasterChef is a catch-phrase. And I'm careful not to tread on the toes of people who have earned their stripes. "People like Margaret Fulton, Stephanie Alexander and Maggie Beer -- and I am not putting myself in their league whatsoever -- they are not chefs, but they have still managed to have brilliant food careers, and that's what I'd like."
