On the This is a paid advertisement for Le Chat Noir Restaurant, Terrigal BONJOUR: Dominique (second from left) his father Michel, and staff look forward to welcoming diners to Le Chat Noir at Terrigal. Picture by Aaron Brown. A touch of France in Terrigal Le Chat Noir Restaurant, 10 Kurrawyba Avenue, Terrigal, serves traditional French cuisine. Open for lunch and dinner seven days. Phone 4385 7077 or go to www.lechatnoir.com.au L E CHAT NOIR offers diners a touch of France in the heart of Terrigal. Indeed, the moment you set foot inside the restaurant, wonderful French influences flood the senses. There’s the ambient French music, the eye-catching French artworks and memorabilia that adorn the walls and tables and, most importantly, the enticing aromas of delectable French cuisine. Owners Michel and Pat Papeix opened the restaurant in June and have been run off their feet from day one, and regularly cook for full houses on Friday and Saturday nights. The restaurant is managed by their son Dominique. Michel brings 30 years of cooking experience in France and Australia to the restaurant, and his passion for cuisine is evident in the stunning menu. Entrees start at $16. Among the most popular entrée offerings are Escargot à la Bourguignonne (one dozen snails, served in their shell, with traditional garlic butter), Coquilles St Jacques Gratinés (sautéed scallops and mushrooms in fish veloute, with lemon juice and cream, topped with fresh breadcrumbs and gruyere cheese) and one of Michel’s specialities, Foie gras de Canard (traditional duck foie gras served on a bed of endives tossed in walnut oil dressing with walnuts and served on a bed of napolitana sauce). Main meals start at $29.50 and include a tempting array of steak, chicken and seafood dishes as well as Michel’s own Canard à l’Orange (baked half deboned duck, served with orange zest, Grand Marnier and meat glaze). And what French meal would be complete without an indulgent dessert? These are priced at $13.50 and include Brûlée au Chocolat (a rich chocolate and Kahlua baked crème anglais, served with ice-cream and a cat’s tongue biscuit) and Crêpes au Citron (traditional French crepes, served with lemon sauce and icecream). “People come to the restaurant because of the warm and friendly atmosphere, and for the good food and good prices,” Dominique said. Diners can choose from the a la carte menu, or the fixed price menu, which offers a choice of entrée, main and dessert for just $55, he said. There is also a lunch menu. The restaurant is fully licensed, and BYO for wine only. Le Chat Noir is open for lunch and dinner seven days.
